Colonial Secretary's Office,
Hongkong, 2nd. October, 1917.
I am directed to inform you that His Excellency the Governor considers that the evidence given by Er. J. D. Lloyd in the case against the Manager of the Tong Beng & Co. at the Criminal Sessions yesterday, as reported in the Daily Press Newspaper today regarding a present of a pair of gold and jade sleeve links is unsatisfactory.
I am to enquire what Mr. Lloyd did with the links, and if he still has them he should hand them to me.
I am also to enquire what other presenta Mr. Lloyd and Mr. Burn have received, and to request that they may all be handed to me.
The Superintendent,
Imports and Exports.
I am, etc.,
(sd.)
Claud Severn,
Colonial Secretary.
